Wisconsin Lakes – Deepest Lakes & Common Lake Names
In a previous LakeCottageLand.com Blog article about Wisconsin lake information found in the DNR's Wisconsin Lakes book , the Wisconsin counties with the most and fewest lakes were noted. With information about Wisconsin's nearly 16,000 lakes, which was collected beginning in the 1950's and 1960's, the Wisconsin Lakes book's primary data consists of lake area in acres, maximum lake depth, average lake depth, lake type, fish species, and whether or not a lake map is available.
Two other sections that should be of interest to anyone looking for lake property for sale in Wisconsin, or anyone who is interested in Wisconsin lakes, are:
Five Deepest Named Lakes in Wisconsin:
- Lake Wazee, Jackson County: 350 feet
- Green Lake (Big Green Lake), Green Lake County: 236 feet
- Redgranite Quarry, Waushara County: 163 feet
- Lake Geneva, Walworth County: 135 feet
- Lohrville Quarry, Waushara County: 120 feet
Five Most Common Lake Names in Wisconsin:
- Mud Lake: 116 lakes
- Bass Lake: 82 lakes
- Long Lake: 59 lakes
- Spring Lake: 45 lakes
- Lost Lake: 42 lakes
It's interesting to note while one may come across a Bass Lake Realty, Long Lake Realty, Spring Lake Realty or Lost Lake Realty in Wisconsin, there is not a single Mud Lake Realty to be found!? On the other hand, Mud Lake Realty doesn't really conjur up that classic Wisconsin, northwoods cottage setting of a beautiful sandy lakeshore.
